Fox-25 Undercover questioned the earmarks that are part of the bill, which was signed last August.
A transportation bond bill with 217 earmarks signed last summer was recently put under the spotlight by Fox 25 Undercover. The bill, which could cost taxpayers $277 million if financed, was passed by lawmakers and signed by Gov. Deval Patrick last August. One initiative in Canton that received funding as part of that bill was a project involving overhauls at the Canton Center Commuter Rail Station. The bill allots $500,000 to improve pedestrian access and safety at the station, while another $300,000 is for capital improvements. State Sen. Brian A. Joyce was sworn into office by Governor Deval Patrick during a ceremony at the State House in Boston. Senator Brian A. Joyce appeared on NECN"s "Broadside" Monday night to discuss his advocacy for stricter driving laws for seniors. His appearance came shortly after an Iraq war veteran was struck and killed by an elderly driver traveling the wrong way on the Massachusetts Turnpike. Joyce (D-Milton) represents precincts 3-6 in Easton.

Hibernia Irish Pub held its Grand Opening Wednesday night.
Despite being open for a few weeks, Hibernia Irish Pub officially celebrated its grand opening Wednesday night. Live Irish music was played throughout the night and the new pub was greeted with the presence of Senator Scott Brown (R-Wrentham) and State Senator Brian A. Joyce (D-Milton). The building was packed from wall to wall with local residents celebrating the new restaurant's open, which was formerly the location of The Blackthorne and The 402.
