Maplewood Camp in South Easton Plans Open Houses

Open Houses Are Starting January 7, 2012, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents and Kids Invited to Enjoy Free Activities and Enroll for the Summer Program

Submitted to Easton Patch: The calendar says it’s winter, but many local families are now planning summer camp schedules for their kids.  According to brother-and-sister Lee Pinstein and Susan Reardon, co-directors of Maplewood Day Camp & Enrichment Center in Easton, parents want to assure that their kids are placed in a fun and safe environment—before camp sessions fill up.   So, Maplewood is hosting a series of open houses at its facility on 150 Foundry Street (Route 106), the first of which will be on January 7, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. “We have found that parents in our local communities value camps that are well-established and family-run,” says Pinstein. Muscato's Musings

Splishing and Splashing in Easton

Ponds and Pools and Fun.

A little heat wave hitting us here.  A nice time for a dip. Many people in Easton have had their pools open since mid May.  Smart move, especially in this region of the nation: try to get the most time out of your pool as possible.  (Dan Churchill told me that when he and his wife, Jean, lived on Summer Street, one year they kept their outdoor pool open until October.) I am not a crazy water guy in terms of swimming (although I swim fairly well) and wading and splashing around.  Although, for sure, I enjoy sitting near to and looking out at any body of water – lake, pond, or the ocean.  I also like boat trips.  I used to be more into jumping into water than I am today. Back in a much earlier day before WWII, a group of young Stoughton men used to camp out near the large rocks bordering the Pond (now Palisades Circle). Each morning, Paul Trotta would jump off the rocks and swim down to the end of the pond and back. That was before …   more ›

Maplewood Kicks Off Year With Open House

Maplewood Country Day Camp partnered with Denette Family Chiropractic, Village Toy Shop, and Patch.com

On Saturday, Easton's Maplewood Country Day Camp and Enrichment Center was filled with children of all ages swinging from ropes, jumping on moon bounces and playing with toys. For the camp's staff, it was just another day at work. But, Saturday was a chance for everyone to see what the camp had to offer during Maplewood's open house. "What else are you going to do on a snowy winter day?" Sue Reardon said. "You’re you’re going to come in and see everything and see Curious George. It’s great." Reardon and her brother Lou Pinstein own the camp. Saturday's event was also co-sponsored by Village Toy Shop, Denette Family Chiropractic and Patch.com.
