Plainridge Racecourse in Competition for State's Sole Slot License

Developers are proposing to build a 1,250 slot machine parlor at Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville, which is now among nearly a dozen eyeing the state's only slot parlor gaming license. The deadline for application landed on Tuesday.

Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville is now among 10 other entities eyeing a slots parlor license, according to media reports this week.   The Plainville track filed its application for the license with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission several months ago, according to a report on WHDH, and park president George Carney, who also owns Raynham Park just over the Easton line, said that after filing the application, he was confident he could win the competition.  Developers are proposing to build a 1,250 slot machine parlor at Plainridge Racecourse if the track receives the state’s only slot parlor gaming license. The deadline for developers to submit applications to the Gaming Commission passed on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
