The Brockton City Councilor will be on a Democratic Primary ballot Thursday, Sept. 6
Last year at this time, Brockton City Councilor At-Large Robert Sullivan didn't know he'd be spending his summer knocking on doors in Easton and on the west side of Brockton. But, around the same time last winter, two unanticipated events occurred. Sullivan, a Brockton resident who had lived in the 9th Plymouth District (and had lost a State Rep Democratic Primary in that District in 2008 by 13 votes), found that his house had been redistricted to the 11th Plymouth. And, the State Rep representing the 11th Plymouth, Geraldine Creedon (D-Brockton) announced that she would not run, thus leaving an open seat on Beacon Hill. "I didn’t expect where I live to be taken out of the 9th Plymouth and put into the 11th Plymouth district," he said. "…

The candidates included Easton resident and Brockton attorney Claire Cronin, Mark Linde of Brockton, general manager of Brockton Community Access television and chairman of the Southeastern Regional School Committee, and two Brockton City Councilors-at-Large: Jass Stewart, a realtor and business owner, and Robert Sullivan, an attorney who serves as Town Counsel for Randolph. All of them are Democrats and are vying for the …

The Brockton City Councilor will throw his hat in the ring
Brockton City Councilor Jass Stewart (D-Brockton) officially announced his candidacy for State Rep in the 11th Plymouth District Sunday. Stewart, who said he was exploring the idea last month, said he made his decision when his son told him to "go for it." "Last week my son, Jajuan, left Brockton for Japan—his first tour of duty in the U.S. military," Stewart said in a statement. "Right before he left, I asked him what he thought about my possible run for State Rep. He said, 'Go for it. My job is to make sure people have the freedom to vote. Your job is to make sure they have a reason to vote.' With that said, I am proud to announce my candidacy for Massachusetts State Rep, serving Brockton and Easton. This will be one of the largest …
