The Tigers defeated Stoughton, 9-0 Wednesday night.
The Oliver Ames hockey team soundly defeated Davenport Division foe Stoughton Wednesday night at the Asiaf Arena in Brockton. The Tigers scored more goals than they had in a game all season to beat the Black Knights, 9-0. With the win, Oliver Ames improved to 6-4-1. Stoughton dropped to 1-9-2. While OA came away with an easy victory, it had trouble finding the net in the early minutes. The Tigers out-shot the Black Knights in the first period, 29-3, but were only able to find the back of the net twice: A goal from senior Jimmy Waitz with an assist from junior Colin Lozzi and a Thomas McNeely (SR) goal with an assist from senior Justin Davinder. A baby shower at Club Luis de Camoes on Porter Street in Stoughton Saturday night turned into a full-fledged brawl that took 20 police officers nearly an hour to quell. Four people ended up getting arrested, including one juvenile. A Stoughton Police detail officer was working the 9 p.m. to midnight baby shower on Jan. 12, when a fight broke out inside the club. The officer called in backup, including Easton Police, and at 11:38 p.m, there was a full brawl in progress that had spilled outside the building. Stoughton Executive Officer Robert Devine said the time the incident occurred was of benefit to the police. "We had our midnight shift coming in, so we had more bodies that we'd normally have." Easton fire officials aided the Stoughton Fire Department with a two-alarm fire that caused extensive damage to a Stoughton home on Christmas Eve, according to Stoughton Fire Department officials. The Stoughton Fire Department received a call at 9:13 p.m. on Dec. 24 for a fire at a single-story wood-frame dwelling at 38 Kenmore Road in Stoughton, SFD Captain Don Jasmin said. A fire on the first floor extended in to the attic space, according to Jasmin. The home has extensive damage, but there were no reported injuries to any of the home's occupants or to the first responders who were on scene, Jasmin said. Norfolk County DA Rules Stoughton Teen's Shooting Death Accidental The September 29th shooting which killed Stoughton High senior David Wade, long understood to be an accident, has officially been ruled as such, the office of Norfolk Country District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey announced in a press release Friday afternoon. Wade, 17, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest at his Turnpike St. home. He was accidentally shot by his 21-year-old brother. State Police Make Several OUI Arrests Over Holiday Weekend Massachusetts State Police Troopers made 20 OUI arrests and issued almost 350 citations on area roadways this holiday weekend - the result of increased patrols on Routes 24 and 195 and a sobriety checkpoint in Canton, according to a press release from the MSP.
