Easton Police Sergeant McAvoy Honored for Community Service

Easton Police Sergeant James McAvoy is described by police chief Allen Krajcik as "a very hard working and compassionate individual and a great attribute to police department."
That's why the chief said he was very proud to present the community service award at the National Night Out Against Crime event held at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton during a Rox's game Aug. 6. The award is present to Easton citizens who have "gone above and beyond" in helping others.
In the letter recommending McAvoy for the award, Krajcik wrote about how the sergeant is involved with working several different groups in town, being the senior citizens as the department's liaison to Triad, helping the disabled through Project Lifesaver program, lending a hand to the veterans through his volunteer work with the Wounded Warrior Program, and at Brockton Veteran's Administration hospital. He also serves a post commander for the American Legion, and volunteers at My Brother's Keeper and with the Special Olympics.

"I know from your work here at the police department that you always go above and beyond in helping the citizens whenever help is needed," wrote Krajcik. "Your dedication and compassion to the citizens is greatly appreciated."
